Over fifty years ago God so moved in a group of people that they prayed for a building where they could really worship the Lord as the place where they had been gathering was falling down. A run down, soon to be demolished building was found and purchased as God provided the money for it. Work began immediately to make it serviceable as a place for worship. As it was a house, there was room for people to live there too, and Devonshire Road Christian Fellowship has been there ever since.

For a very long time there were people working on the building which, because of a change in the planning of the council was now protected from demolition and part of a conservation area as well.

Just about every part of the building has been painstakingly restored and rejuvenated! But we still have to keep working on the building to keep it functioning properly.

The work began to outgrow the single building, so it was not too long before the Lord provided the option, and the ability, to purchase the house next door which also needed a lot of work being done on it.

But all these work parties, all the commitment in time and finances worked to bring together a group of people who had one passionate desire - to see a church that functioned as a body, that fitted the pattern seen in the New Testament.

From the very beginning of the work there has been a focus on overseas outreach. That has brought vital and long-lasting connections to many parts of the world.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for you if you are planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at 14 Devonshire Road (details here) for our Sunday Meeting starting at 10:30am. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the meeting begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted at the front door by someone on our Welcome Team.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits after the meeting; some folk bring their lunch and stay around for a while. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

Accessibility:  If you have any questions about accessibility, please contact us on this number prior to your visit on 0151 727 4353.

Our Meeting

The meeting begins at 10:30am with a warm welcome from one of our team members. We don't have a fixed format, but there will be a time of open worship which will include some songs that will be shown on the screens.
People may pray out loud or read a short passage from the bible. Sometimes people share things that they believe God is saying to the whole church family. This might seem strange the first time you hear it but it’s all part of our connecting with God. We then share news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church. One of our leaders will then give a sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We may then finish with a final word of prayer. Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.
